Then, 187 feet above the Champs de Mars garden, he pulled a latex mallet from his tool bag and hit the frame hard, and then softer, with agility and rhythm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat one was beautiful!\u201d said Paul Kozel, a sound engineer, who recorded the dull thuds.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Bertolozzi, who lives in Beacon, N.Y., is in Paris harvesting sounds for what he calls a \u201cpublic art installation,\u201d a musical project that has taken him, Mr. Kozel and a team of seven to one of the most visited monuments in the world.<\/p>\n<p>His mission is to \u201cplay the Eiffel Tower\u201d by striking its surfaces, collecting sounds through a microphone and using them as samples for an hourlong composition called \u201cTower Music.\u201d He eventually hopes for a live, on-site performance of the work to celebrate the tower\u2019s 125th anniversary next year.<\/p>\n<p>via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/06\/05\/arts\/music\/tower-music-from-eiffel-tower-by-joseph-bertolozzi.html?hp&amp;_r=0\">\u2018Tower Music,\u2019 From Eiffel Tower, by Joseph Bertolozzi &#8211; NYTimes.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[A man after my own heart.
